President’s Message

Hello Vinci Park Families!

I can’t believe it’s already November! Time has gone by so fast these past couple of months but so many exciting things have happened.

Our Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser was a huge hit and everyone did an awesome job sharing the flyers and order forms with everyone they know! We have so many orders placed and it will be ready for pick up on November 15th from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm in the multi-purpose room.  Because items come frozen, time is of the essence and remember, this is a one day pick up only!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Fall Festival! It was our very first big event and I am so proud of our board members, and all the volunteers who went above and beyond their duty to make the event incredibly successful. Most importantly, the kids had an amazing time and loved throwing a pie at their favorite teachers! We will be giving away a prize for one volunteer and the winner will be announced at our next PTA meeting. You must be present to claim the prize!

Thank you to PTA board member Marygrace Tobias for designing our beautiful photo booth at the Fall Festival. And thank you to our other board member Dulce Valencia for being our gorgeous model!
The “Cake Walk” was such a popular game at the Fall Festival. Even some of the parents wanted in on the action!
Our very own Principal, Mrs. Nunez got pied in the face by some super excited students. Thank you to Mrs. Nunez, Mr. Torrez, Ms. Tsoi, Ms. Low and Ms. Jenzen for being such good sports. The kids had the time of their life throwing pies at their favorite teacher!

Finally, we had a very engaging and collaborative discussion at our last PTA Meeting on traffic safety in our school, particularly during morning drop offs. As a result, we have created a short and long term plan to help alleviate some of the traffic in the morning. We will be sharing our plan with you at our next PTA Meeting on November 9th at 7:30am.

Principal’s Message

Happy November!

Hope you are enjoying the beautiful brilliance of the fall season. As we approach the month of November, I would like to mention a few upcoming events. Parent-Teacher Conferences will begin November 8th, and continue the week of November 13th. You will have an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and the contents of the report with his or her teacher/s. Please use these conferences to your advantage. Be sure to come with questions, concerns or compliments. Use the time to discuss things you are unsure about or hope for your child. Pay attention to the comments your child’s teacher has, and help us make this a successful year for everyone.

If you have questions about content standards or state testing, a good site to visit is the California Department of Education


I am asking that parents/guardians please use the horse shoe ONLY for drop and go purposes when bringing your student to school in the morning. If you feel the need to assist your child out of the car or walk them in, YOU MUST park on the street. I ask that you are respectful to parents who are on their way to work and on a time schedule. It creates a dangerous situation when cars try to go around those who have gotten out of their vehicles.

If you are bringing your child in late to school, you MUST bring them into the office and get a late pass. Please DO NOT drop them off and watch them enter the classroom from your car. Let’s all work to keep our most precious gift, our students, safe!

Finally, I would like to continue to invite parents to attend our School Site Council and PTA meetings.  During our November meeting we’ll be revising/aligning our school’s mission and vision statements, reviewing our safety plan and Title I funding.

Traffic Safety Committee – We are looking for a team to head up our traffic safety initiative! Morning drop offs will be so much smoother with your help.

Otis Spunkmeyer – We are looking for volunteers to help sort the Otis Spunkmeyer orders on November 15th during school hours.  We will need a morning shift (9am-12pm) and/or an afternoon shift (1pm-5pm). We need as many hands as possible to have orders ready for pick up by 1:00 pm.

Movie Night – We also need volunteers to help during our Holiday Themed Movie Night on December 14th anytime between 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Please complete a volunteer form or contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Dulce Valencia at if you are able to help. Every little bit counts!

*You do not have to volunteer the entire time.


PTA Meetings are held each month in the staff lounge at Vinci Park. We discuss upcoming events, provide a financial report and our Principal Parisa Nunez shares updates concerning our school and students. Light snacks and refreshments are provided.

Our next PTA Meeting will be held on November 9th at 7:30 am in the staff lounge.

If you would like to become a member, complete a form located at the sign-in desk outside the front office, attach your payment and submit it to your child’s teacher or front office staff.

Acknowledgements & Volunteer Spotlight

Otis Spunkmeyer Fundraiser – Congratulations to Darius Calanche from Ms. Katai’s first grade class who brought in the most Otis Spunkmeyer orders! He sold a whopping 74 items! Way to go, Darius!

Box TopsSo many box tops!  Thank you Vinci Park families.  Together, we collected over 2,700 non-expired box tops!  This is great news because that means we can redeem them for $270 towards school events, supplies and field trips.As promised, one upper and one lower grade class earned the new BOX TOP CHAMPIONS TROPHY.  These trophies were presented to the winning classes on Tuesday, October 31.  The winners were….Mrs. Wolter and Mrs. Escobar-Ausman’s classes!

Remember, we will be collecting box tops throughout the year so don’t stop bringing them into your classes.  The next collection date will be in February 2018.

November Events

THE HABIT BURGER GRILL DINE OUT – Join us for good old fashioned burgers, fries and shakes while raising money for our school! 20% of the proceeds of our sale will go towards funding much needed classroom supplies and field trips. You must present the flyer to the cashier. Tell everyone you know!

PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCE – A parent–teacher conference is a time when important people in a student’s life can talk about how that student is doing in school. Please refer to this document with some helpful tips.

When: November 8th – November 17th
Time: Scheduled with your child’s teacher
Where: Your child’s classroom

*It is an early release this whole week.

PTA ASSOCIATION MEETING – Be the first to hear about important news and upcoming events at the school and have a voice in the activities and programs the PTA supports. Breakfast pastries and coffee will be served. Childcare will be available.
