Dear Vinci Park Families,
I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season and all the joy, festivities and gatherings it brings!
Vinci Park has been busy celebrating with various classroom events, staff parties and the PTA even hosted a holiday pajama party that I hope you were able to attend! Santa Claus was the highlight of our evening as he took pictures with kids, asked them what they wanted for Christmas and even played duck duck goose with them! It is so fun to see the kids faces light up with excitement! Proceeds from our concessions from the Holiday Pajama Party will go towards classroom supplies, field trips, olympics and more! I met so many new families at this event and I hope to meet more of you in the coming months.
A huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers who made that event happen. I can’t stress enough the fact that these amazing events cannot happen without the hard work of parents and staff selflessly volunteering their time. If you haven’t had a chance to volunteer at one of our events yet this year, there will be plenty of opportunity in the new year.
There are SO MANY WAYS to get involved at Vinci Park. Whether you want to just get your feet wet and serve on a committee, or take on a large event, the PTA is always looking for volunteers! From my own personal experience, it is a remarkable feeling to see the joy and excitement in children’s faces as they participate in and benefit from the programs that the PTA is able to support.
If you want to learn more about ways to help, or have any questions or ideas you’d like to share, please feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com.
I am excited to work with all of you to continue to help support our school!
On behalf of the PTA Executive Board, we wish you a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones and a prosperous and healthy new year!
Dear Vinci Park Parents & Families,
As the start of winter fast approaches, the days left in the first half of the school calendar are disappearing quickly. Student attendance on a regular basis is essential throughout the year for children to maximize their learning, but especially in the second half of the school year. Please be sure to help get your children to school regularly and on time. If they are sick, etc., we certainly understand. We want the best for your children and strongly believe that they gain the most from being at school on a consistent (if not daily) basis. Thank you for your help and support in this regard.
Our students and staff have accomplished a lot during our first almost 100 days of school. Our leader teachers and coaches have led professional development to help our teachers dive deeper into the Common Core State Standards. Common Core Standards are designed to help students at each stage of their academic careers, preparing them for future success in college and the workplace. The standards help teachers build the best lessons and help students set goals for success. Our professional development focused on how to help teachers build an environment where students can effectively engage in a wide range of rigorous, content-rich conversation and collaboration. At Vinci Park we are using Common Core, small group instruction and SEAL to continue to hold high expectations for the academic skills and knowledge your children need to be successful. If you are interested to learn more about common core, www.corestandards.org offers detailed information. On behalf of the entire school faculty and staff, I wish you and your entire family peace, joy, and happiness and excellent health.
If you are interested in working on our school yearbook, we are still in need of volunteers. Experience is not necessary. This is an ongoing project that can be done online at home. If you are interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Family Fun Night
Every May the PTA hosts it’s spring festival called “Family Fun Night”. It’s a night filled with entertainment, games, raffle prizes, food, and family fun. If you would like to help plan for this year’s Family Fun Night please contact email@example.com. We will having our first planning meeting soon at the beginning of the year and we encourage you to bring your thoughts and ideas. More details and meeting times will be announced.
Holiday Pajama Party
We had a wonderful turn out at our Holiday Pajama Party, held earlier this month, that helped kick off the holiday season. Santa was so jolly during his grand entrance that his presence was known by all at the event. Santa delighted the kids by playing follow the leader around the multi-purpose room with them and the game duck, duck, goose. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy. Additional photos can be found on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/vinciparkpta.
Vinci Blue Fridays
Our December Vinci Blue Friday winners each had 100% participation from their classes, let’s congratulate the lower grade winner, a tie with Ms. Nguyen’s 2nd grade class and Mr. Torrez’s 3rd grade class and the upper grade winner Ms. Perla’s 4th grade class. Our next Vinci Blue Friday will be January 11th. The winning classes will earn a small prize.
Every first Friday of the month each class competes to see who has the most spirit, aka “Vinci Blue Fridays”. Explorers, show your school spirit by wearing blue or a Vinci Park t-shirt or hoodie.
Fifth Grade Science Camp
A few pictures of our 5th graders as they headed out to Science Camp.
Holiday Sing-A-Long Concert
Last Friday, Vinci Park’s orchestra played classic holiday music, while the audience sang along.
PTA meetings are held each month in the staff lounge at Vinci Park. We discuss upcoming events, provide a financial report and our Principal Parisa Nunez shares updates concerning our school and students. Coffee and pastries are provided.
Our next PTA meeting will be held on Thursday, January 10th at 7:15 am in the staff lounge. Please note that there is no meeting in December.

Hero Fit Challenge Fundraiser with Boosterthon
Date: January 31, 2018
Location: Multi-Purpose Room
Parents! One of this year’s main fundraiser is the HeroFit Challenge! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on January 22nd. Families will then gather pledges for every exercise set, or Fitness Challenge your student completes (30-35 exercises), and we’ll celebrate at the HeroFit Challenge on January 31st. With our big goal of raising $15,000 for playground equipment, increased classroom funds, and supplies for the school, we asked the fitness and fundraising experts at Boosterthon to power our event and make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they’re teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Donations will go toward fundraising items and to the entire two-week experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the HeroFit Challenge! Thank you for your support!
