President’s Message

Hello Vinci Park Families,

The weather is warming up and the days are longer, which is a reminder that the end of school is just around the corner. I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone by!

This also means that our end of school Family Fun Night is fast approaching. It is scheduled for May 17th from 5-8pm and we need your help! Please sign up to volunteer for this fun event. We will have lots of games, entertainment, arts and crafts, food and much more! But we won’t be able to do it without the help of volunteers. Any little bit of your time helps!

The end of the year also means that it’s elections time. We will be holding our election for the PTA Executive Board for our 2019-2020 school year at our next Association meeting on April 11 at 7:30am in the staff lounge. If you know of anyone who you think would be great to serve on the board next year, please nominate them! You can also nominate yourself if you’d like!

We are looking for a variety of positions to serve on the board. If you’re interested in finding out more about the different positions and their responsibilities, visit the CA PTA website or email ptaboard@vinciparkpta.com.

As the year is coming to a close, I want to say that it has been such a fun experience serving as your PTA President these past 2 years! I look forward to serving our school in different capacities in the years to come.

Principal’s Message

Dear Vinci Park Families,

March already! Wow, the second trimester has ended and you should have received your child’s report card. Hopefully you have an opportunity to review it with your child, to set goals for the third trimester and to celebrate the successes. Students certainly are doing some spectacular pieces of work. If you have questions or concerns, be sure to contact the teacher.

A big thank you to those of you who have been supporting all of our PTA sponsored events and buying your Berryessa Education Foundation raffle tickets. As many of you know we are getting started to go through the SBAC tests with our 3rd – 5th graders. Here are some of the resources on Common Core please review the following sites. Students grades 3-5 will be participating in the Smarter Balanced Test.

With the arrival of spring, many families use the Vinci Park campus for after school and weekend events.  Please show respect and pride for our community school by the following actions:

  • Take all trash home and help others to do the same.
  • Supervise your children and remind others to do the same.
  • Keep dogs off the campus at all times.
  • Address anyone engaging in vandalism and report it to the school office or the police.

As the warm weather approaches, I want to remind parents and students of our Vinci Park Dress Code. A couple of items to note are “no tank tops,” wear fingertip length shorts and skirts and to wear shoes with a back.

Science Camp Fundraiser Dine Outs
Take a night off from cooking and dine out with on the following days to help with the on going fundraising efforts for the Fifth Grade Science Camp:

Help Secure Funds for Vinci Park with the Scholar Dollars Program
An award program from Treasurer Fiona Ma and ScholarShare 529 will award more than $300,000 to California’s K-8 public and charter schools in 2019. Vinci Park PTA is competing for a $15,000 award to fund school supplies and general equipment.

In order to help us win, we are asking our community to:

  3. Type Vinci Park Elementary in the Search Bar
  4. Click on the Vote for this School button

You can vote once every day until March 22nd and we encourage you to share this with your friends and family so they can vote too.

PTA Elections
The following are available PTA Board positions for the 2019-2020 school year. Minimally, the positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer are required to be filled in order to operate as a PTA unit. If these three positions are not filled, then Vinci Park PTA will have to disband. Please consider one of these positions to help continue the important impact that Vinci Park PTA has on our students and teachers. You may nominate someone or yourself at our next PTA meeting on April 11th at 7:15am in the staff lounge.

Following are brief descriptions of each board position. Detailed descriptions and additional board positions can be found at https://capta.org/pta-leaders/run-your-pta/job-descriptions/

President: Leads the PTA toward specific goals chosen by its members, consistent with the policies and purposes of the PTA. The president is the presiding officer and the official representative of the association and presides at PTA board and association meetings.

Secretary:  Encompasses the traditional roles of corresponding secretary and recording secretary, and is generally the keeper of the organization’s records, minutes and membership data.

Treasurer: Keeps financial records and prepares reports to comply with local, state and federal laws. Presents the proposed budget to the executive board for suggestions.

Vice President: Assists the president and helps lead the PTA toward specific goals chosen by its members.

Fundraising Chairman: Works with a committee, appointed by the president, to plan and organize fundraising activities. Focuses on raising the amount of funds needed to meet the unit’s budget. Presents reports on proposed fundraising activities at board and association meetings for approval.

Membership Chairman: The membership chairman is responsible for creating and implementing a membership plan, promoting membership throughout the year, providing membership reports at PTA board and association meetings, collecting dues, and distributing membership cards.

Program Chairman: Works with committee, other PTA board members and school staff to plan, organize and implement programs for the school year. Develops annual program calendar and presents it at PTA association meeting for adoption.

Parliamentarian: Assists the president to manage meetings and advises on parliamentary procedure. Chairs bylaws committee to review unit bylaws each year and revise bylaws every three years. Arranges nominating committee’s first meeting, providing information on nomination and election process.

Volunteer Coordinator: Collaborates with other PTA board members, teachers and administrators to assess and identify how parents/guardians and community members can get more involved at school as volunteers. Oversees volunteer recruitment, training and assignments.

Vinci Park Spirit Wear
Our next sale of Vinci Park t-shirts and hoodies is Thursday, March 28th, (weather permitting), between 7:45am-8:15am in front of room 14. T-Shirts are $10 and hoodies are $20. Both children and adult sizes are available. We accept cash and checks made out to Vinci Park PTA. Spirit wear can also be purchased by completing a spirit wear order form in the office with your payment enclosed in an envelope. You will receive your order through your child’s teacher.


Pasta Night
Despite the gloomy weather, we had a great turn out and served over 250 guests at our annual Pasta Night on March 7th. It was a great night for our school community to bond over a delicious meal and enjoy board games with their families and friends. Following are a some pictures from our event.


Reminders Regarding School Visits and Pick-Up Arrangements
All volunteers and visitors are required to sign-in at the office and wear a name badge. Please don’t knock on classroom doors after the school day has started. This is for your safety and the safety of our students. Sign-in is part of our school and district safety plans. Arrangements for the pick-up of students at the end of the day should be made before school. Instructional time is being interrupted regularly when parents call the office and ask the teacher to give a message to the student. Let’s protect the learning time by reducing calls to the classroom.

PTA Meetings

PTA meetings are held each month in the staff lounge at Vinci Park. We discuss upcoming events, provide a financial report and our Principal Parisa Nunez shares updates concerning our school and students. Coffee and pastries are provided.

Our next PTA meeting will be held on Thursday, April 11th at 7:15 am in the staff lounge.
